Lidia V. Chavira

Executive Director

 LMSW, LADAC, CPSW, ACS

Lidia V. Chavira is the Executive Director of Desert O.A.S.I.S. and a dedicated advocate for recovery, reentry, and behavioral health services. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, Certified Peer Support Worker, and Approved Clinical Supervisor, she brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work.

After overcoming addiction, incarceration, and significant personal challenges, Lidia committed her life to helping others navigate recovery, healing, and reintegration. Her journey has shaped her belief that transformation happens in the space between crisis and stability, and that no one should have to walk that path alone.

Through Desert O.A.S.I.S., Lidia is leading the development of client-centered programs that support the whole person through recovery support, housing stabilization, peer services, workforce development, behavioral health resources, and community connection. Her vision is rooted in dignity, accountability, hope, and the belief that people should be defined by their potential not their past.

Lidia's mission is simple: create opportunities for healing, restoration, and lasting change for individuals, families, and communities throughout New Mexico.

Justin Porter

Director of Compliance & Recovery Services

Justin Porter serves as the Director of Compliance & Recovery Services for Desert O.A.S.I.S., overseeing organizational compliance, governance, policy development, and regulatory oversight. He is responsible for developing and reviewing policies, bylaws, and organizational procedures to ensure the organization operates in accordance with applicable regulations, best practices, and its mission.

Justin works closely with the executive leadership team to strengthen accountability, manage compliance requirements, and support sound organizational governance. His focus on policy, risk management, and organizational integrity helps build a strong foundation for the continued growth and success of Desert O.A.S.I.S.

Tiffany Coleman is a dedicated leader in workforce development, reentry services, and community partnerships. She is committed to creating individualized pathways that help people overcome barriers, achieve stability, and build successful futures.

Tiffany is also the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of VinTif Solutions, where she leads workforce planning, career readiness, employer partnerships, and reentry initiatives. Through her work, she focuses on helping individuals develop the skills, confidence, and support systems needed to succeed in employment and life. Her approach emphasizes communication, emotional regulation, accountability, and long-term stability recognizing that true reintegration begins long before a person walks into a job interview.

Passionate about second-chance opportunities and strengthening communities, Tiffany believes people should not be permanently defined by their past but empowered by the opportunity to build something better. Through collaboration, workforce development, and community-based support, she works to create lasting change for individuals, families, and the communities they call home.

Gabriela Chavira 

Director of Health & Wellness Programs

Gabriela Chavira serves as the Director of Health & Wellness for Desert O.A.S.I.S., where she leads health education, wellness programming, community health partnerships, and client health navigation services. As a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she is committed to helping individuals access the resources, education, and support needed to improve their overall health and well-being.

Gabriela works to develop programs that promote healthy lifestyles, increase access to care, and support individuals as they navigate recovery, reentry, and life transitions. Her focus is on creating pathways to wellness that empower individuals and families to achieve long-term stability and improved quality of life.

Through collaboration, education, and community partnerships, Gabriela helps ensure Desert O.A.S.I.S. provides holistic support that addresses the health and wellness needs of those it serves. 

Meet our Non-Profit Board Members

Aaron Butz

Board President

Aaron Butz serves as Board President for Desert O.A.S.I.S., bringing lived experience, ministry leadership, and a passion for helping others find hope, healing, and purpose. After overcoming more than 20 years of addiction and multiple periods of incarceration, Aaron transformed his life through faith, recovery, and service to others.

Aaron currently serves as Chaplain for Southwest Pediatric and Family Care, Community Support Worker with Southwest Therapeutics, and Men's Ministry Director at Deming First Assembly of God. Through his professional and ministry work, he supports individuals and families facing mental health, substance use, and life challenges.

Aaron's personal journey provides a unique perspective on recovery, reentry, and restoration. He is committed to helping others recognize their value, overcome barriers, and build a future grounded in hope, accountability, and lasting change.

Justin Porter

Interim Treasurer

Justin Porter serves as Interim Treasurer for the Desert O.A.S.I.S. Board of Directors, providing oversight and support for the organization's financial stewardship and accountability. In addition to his role on the Board, he serves as Chief Compliance Officer, helping guide organizational governance, policy development, and compliance efforts. His commitment to transparency, accountability, and strong organizational practices helps support the long-term sustainability of Desert O.A.S.I.S.



Kira Vaughns

Board Secretary

Kira Vaughns serves as Board Secretary for Desert O.A.S.I.S., bringing lived experience, peer support leadership, and a deep commitment to helping others navigate recovery and reentry.

Kira began her journey as a Peer Educator with UNM Project ECHO while incarcerated in 2013, using her experiences to support and encourage others. Following her release, she continued serving as a Community Peer Educator and later advanced to Senior Community Peer Educator before joining Project ECHO as a Program Specialist.

Through her work and personal journey, Kira understands the challenges of rebuilding a life after incarceration and is passionate about creating opportunities, support, and hope for individuals working toward lasting change.

At Desert Oasis, we are dedicated to transforming lives through our Reentry and Wraparound Program. Located in the heart of Deming, New Mexico, we provide a compassionate support system for individuals emerging from incarceration or treatment. Our team includes staff with lived experience, allowing us to truly understand the challenges, barriers, and strengths that come with rebuilding a life. Through safe housing, peer-driven support, workforce development partnerships, and essential services, we help individuals build resilience, stability, and long-term independence. We believe that with the right support, resources, and people who understand the journey, everyone has the potential to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.
